A Quick Note

You can now talk back to my blog!

Well, the National Enquirer, which turns out to be one of the nation's pre-eminent publications (that says something about our culture, eh?) reports that George W. Bush is drinking again. I'll tell you, that's the best news I've had in about five years. Maybe that'll quash his holier-than-thou nonsense. Anyway, I've never trust a reformed anything--most things are good in moderation. Couldn't hurt to help his judgment. Do I hear a toast?

Then again, maybe there is some divine justice. Mother Nature seems intent on leveling the playing field with the oil industry. Bush giveth and God taketh away. Though we, of course, wind up paying for it. I am glad, though, that Rita did not cause many casualties (at least so far, few reported) and turned out not to be as horrendous as TV news forecast. But what is the deal with sending out correspondents to stand in a path of a hurricane? What information could they possibly provide except over-dramatized entertainment? Anderson Cooper (pronounced Kiewper): we get it. You're an intrepid reporter. But you look really silly in the rain. Now dry off behind your ears and help your mommy run the Vanderbilt empire. Take a clue from Carter--the character Noah Wyle played on "er". You can't escape your family ties.

Sorry—the point of this blog entry is a small but critical improvement I'd like to mention. There are now (well there should be) links in each entry that let readers (that's you!) comment. This is courtesy of www.haloscan.com, and we shall see how it works out. I've also added a banner at the top; not for vanity but so those who may be reading this in RSS syndication can learn who to blame.

Thanks again for reading and have a good weekend!
